Nostalgic SA Hedgehog Slice
Hedgehog Slice a classic South African no-bake favourite packed with chocolate, biscuits, and pure nostalgia. Crunchy, rich, and impossible to stop at one bite.
Ingredients
- 250 g butter or margarine
- 1 tin condensed milk
- 2–3 Tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
- 1 packet Marie biscuits, roughly broken
- 1 cup desiccated coconut (optional but very “SA bake sale” style)
- Optional topping
- 1 slab milk chocolate, melted or chocolate icing
Method
- Grease or line a square tin.
- In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter.
- Stir in condensed milk, cocoa and vanilla until smooth.
- Remove from heat and mix in the broken Marie biscuits and coconut.
- Press firmly into the tin.
- Spread over melted chocolate or icing if using.
- Refrigerate for a few hours until firm.
- Cut into squares.
